ASTM B333 Nickel-Molybdenum Plate, Sheet and Strip

ASTM B333 scope

ASTM B333 is a product specification for nickel-molybdenum alloy plate, sheet and strip intended for general corrosive service. The purchaser should identify the required edition and UNS alloy rather than ordering by the standard number alone. The specification addresses chemical composition, manufacture and heat-treatment condition, dimensions and mechanical-property requirements for covered flat-rolled products.

Product form and condition

  • Sheet and strip: hot or cold rolled, solution annealed and descaled unless a controlled atmosphere produces an acceptable bright finish.
  • Plate: hot or cold rolled, solution annealed and descaled.

Exact thickness, width, length or coil data, surface finish, edge condition and applicable tolerances belong in the purchase description.

Grade and document control

The applicable UNS grade controls the chemistry and property requirements. A trade name or a general Hastelloy description is not enough to define the material. Ask for the material test report, heat or lot traceability and any additional testing required by the drawing or quality plan. Confirm the current purchaser-approved edition before placing an order.

U.S. sourcing overview

ASTM B333 enquiries are most effective when the buyer states both the UNS alloy and the required flat-rolled form. Evek LLC can review plate, sheet and strip requirements for delivery to U.S. customers.

Product forms and sourcing

Supply can be reviewed for plate, sheet, strip, coil and cut blanks, depending on grade, thickness, width, length, condition and quantity. Include surface, edge, flatness, dimensional tolerances, cutting allowance and any protective packaging requirement.

Evek LLC reviews each requirement against the requested grade, specification, form, dimensions and quantity. Availability, origin, production route, minimum quantity and certification are confirmed during quotation; website text is not a stock or compliance guarantee.

Specification and substitution

Nickel-molybdenum alloys within ASTM B333 are not automatically interchangeable. Compare chemistry, corrosion requirement, condition, strength, hardness, thickness range and certification. Any substitution must be accepted by the purchaser or responsible engineer.

The purchaser remains responsible for material selection, design approval and confirmation that the specified material is suitable for the finished component, manufacturing process and service environment.
