Technical Characteristics

This specificationa Astm B162 covers nickel (UNS N02200) and low carbon nickel (UNS N02201) bars, sheets and strips. The material must meet:

• chemical requirements for nickel, copper, iron, manganese, carbon, silicon, and sulfur. mechanical property requirements for tensile strength, yield strength, relative elongation, and Rockwell hardness;
• for deep-drawing and spinning sheet and strip quality - the specified values of grain size and hardness properties;
• homogeneity in quality, without defects.

Quality

According to Astm B162, the surface of the strips must be clean, free of dirt, and smooth, without films, cracks, bubbles, scale, shells, dents, scratches. On the surface of the strips are allowed small risks, dents, not exceeding the limit of thickness deviation.

Manufacture of boilers and pressure vessels to ASME applications - see specification SB-162 in Section II of this standard.
