Heat resistance

Heat-resistant are steel alloys that retain sufficient mechanical strength and heat resistance at elevated temperatures for a given period of time. The material's heat resistance is determined by performance characteristics such as the creep limit and the long-term strength limit. Heat resistance and relaxation resistance are determined by the results of short-term tensile tests performed at the above-mentioned temperatures.

Calcination resistance

Steel alloys which acquire the necessary resistance against surface chemical breakdown by aggressive gaseous substances are called resistant against scale and periodic external temperature variations (relaxation resistance). Critical temperatures are considered to be those exceeding 550...600°C. Evek GmbH offers to buy rolled heat-resistant and relaxation-resistant steels at an affordable price in a wide range. We provide delivery of products anywhere in the continent. Price is optimal.

Chemical composition

Heat resistance and relaxation resistance depends on the chemical composition of the alloy and its structure. In particular, this group of steels should necessarily contain such elements as tungsten, titanium, molybdenum, cobalt, vanadium, niobium, and chromium. Sometimes the composition is also introduced manganese and nickel, which provide an alloy in the subsequent heat treatment of austenitic structure, which has a positive effect on the indices of heat resistance.

Alloying

Heat resistant and relaxation resistant steels are subdivided into low, medium and high alloyed according to the content of the major alloying elements. For low-alloyed steels of this class the total presence of alloying elements may not be higher than 4-5%. For medium-alloyed steels this percentage rises to 9%, and for high-alloyed steels it reaches 20...25%.

Heat Treatment

After quenching and subsequent slow cooling in still air, the microstructure of heat-resistant and relaxation-resistant steels may be pearlitic, martensitic, martensitic-ferritic, ferritic, austenitic-martensitic, austenitic-ferritic, and pure austenitic. Low-alloy steels are dominated by pearlite, medium-alloy steels by pearlite, martensite or martensite+perlite. High-alloy steel does not contain pearlite in its microstructure.
