Production of molybdenum powder
Technical characteristic
The hydrogen oxide reduction route is used. For production purposes MoO3 anhydride is also used, reduced by soot at 650-900°C in a hydrogen dried environment and with constant removal of the water vapor generated in the reaction zone. Such material is used as a raw material for hard alloys.
According to theoretical studies, molybdenum trioxide is reduced with hydrogen to powder in four steps. In practice, this process takes place in three stages. In the last stage of the reduction reaction, it is important to maintain the maximum temperature, which should not exceed 900-950°C. For coarse-grained molybdenum powder, heating up to 1200°C is allowed.
