Relevance
Heat-resistant alloys of chromium and nickel - nichromes with high electrical resistance are indispensable in modern electrical engineering. Almost the only disadvantage of these alloys is their high cost. In order to make it cheaper, nickel in the alloy was partially replaced with iron. The most successful was a composition containing 15% Cr, 60% Ni, and 25% Fe. The alloy was called ferronichrome. It combines high electrical resistance (1.05-1.40 Ohmm2/m) with high heat resistance. It is used in the manufacture of high-temperature electric heaters.
Composition
The name "Fehral" is composed of the names of its constituent parts: ferum - "Fe", chromium - "Chr", aluminum - "Al". The alloy is based on iron. Its share in the alloy, as a rule, is over 70%. The alloy is further alloyed with manganese, silicon, and possibly with nickel.
