Composition
The expressive name fechral is consonant with the sound of a steel blade cutting through the air. It has a simultaneous sense of lightness and formidable power. And this emotional perception is fully confirmed by the qualities of the material. It is an alloy of three components: chrome, aluminum and iron. Hence the name: Fe - ferrum (70-80% Fe), Cr - Cr and Al - Al. There are also limited additions of silicon (1%) and manganese (0.7%). Nickel is sometimes added to make it ductile, but this results in a higher production cost.
The qualities of GS SY fahl.
The main advantages of this material are its high electrical resistance of up to 1.3 Ohm-mm2/m and a melting point of approximately 1450°C. The high yield strength makes it possible to use materials with a minimum cross-section. High corrosion resistance is remarkable in vacuum, oxidizing, sulfur- and carbon-containing environments, in argon, in air. Specific weight of 7.2 g/cm3 allows to save at least 15% on weight. Production cost of fkhrali is 6 times lower than that of nichrome. The disadvantage of fkhrani is the excessive hardness and brittleness that make the rolling process difficult. This material is also not suitable for making the finest threads. It is impossible to roll a section of less than 0.1 mm. The thinnest strip is produced not by rolling, but by electrolysis.
Supplies
The most popular grades are considered - X23Yu5, X23Yu5T, X15Yu5. The latter is most often used for strip production, and X23Yu5T - for wire rolling. Other names of these grades are also encountered, such as Eurofuchril. Producers can give their own names to the material, but they are still required to give the international designation at the same time.
