Cold and hot deformation of nickel alloys

Relevance

Deformable nickel heat-resistant alloys are the basic material for manufacturing turbine disks. The properties of these alloys largely determine the operational characteristics of gas turbine engines and stationary power plants

Technical requirements

High level of long-term and short-term strength and ductility in the whole range of working temperatures; no sensitivity to stress concentrators under static loading; sufficiently high resistance to low-cycle fatigue (about 900 MPa at 650 °C on the base of 104 cycles)

Structure

The structure of deformable heat-resistant nickel alloys is represented by grains of y-solid solution (y-phase) hardened by the y'-phase. The material contains primary carbides evenly distributed throughout the volume. The grain boundaries are hardened with secondary carbides and borides. The content of y'-phase in the complex alloys is about 55-65%.
