ASTM B564 Nickel Alloy Forgings
Scope of ASTM B564
ASTM B564 is a material specification for forgings in multiple nickel and nickel-alloy families. The designation does not describe one alloy: the purchase order must state the exact UNS number, product form, heat-treatment condition and applicable edition. Requirements can differ materially between nickel, nickel-copper, nickel-chromium and nickel-chromium-molybdenum grades.
Forging enquiry requirements
Provide the part type or drawing, dimensions, machining allowance, quantity, ordered condition and required tests. Identify chemical analysis, tensile properties, grain-size requirements where applicable, ultrasonic or other nondestructive examination, marking and certificate needs. For flanges, fittings or valves, also state the component and design specification; ASTM B564 alone does not establish every dimensional or service requirement.
