Relevance

According to GOST 10 994-74, insulated nichrome is used in electric heating devices of high reliability. Insulating material for nichrome wire X20H80 is the usual glass fiber, polyvinyl chloride or enamel (enamel-wire). The basis of the heating element - wire Kh20H80 has a high electrical resistance of 1.12 ^Ohm-mm2/m. The minimum coefficient of thermal expansion allows such wire not to sag at significant temperatures. The surface oxides of chromium and nickel give it excellent corrosion resistance. Sufficient heat resistance enables it to be used in a wide temperature range. It can withstand a large number of on-off cycles without breaking.

Installation

For the central current-carrying core nichrome thread of X20H80 grade 0,2-2 mm is used. Material for insulation - glass fiber of thickness 2±0.2 mm is winded on the wire with a coil to coil. The breakdown voltage of the insulation shall exceed 1250 volts. Winding should be done in one layer, as otherwise significant overheating is possible. The smallest bending diameter of HIH must be at least five times the cross-section of the current-carrying core. All regulated requirements are in accordance with the specification of the HIHN.

Using

Nichrome in insulation is relevant in devices of thermal action: industrial drying and firing furnaces. It is used for heating building structures, heating car seats, making muffle electric furnaces, water heaters. Nichrome is especially valuable in the aggressive environment of industrial condensates.
