Molybdenum Sheet and Plate for U.S. Orders
Advantages of Molybdenum
Molybdenum sheet is a heat-resistant material with rare structural and performance qualities. Due to its exceptional strength, elasticity, heat resistance and minimal coefficient of linear expansion, it is widely sought after by modern industry today. It can withstand temperatures up to 1000 °C higher than titanium and is resistant to aggressive industrial environments and to concentrated acids and alkalis. It is almost 50% lighter than tungsten and therefore has a higher specific strength at 1370 °C.
Disadvantages
The considerable cost of production is due to the fact that rocks containing molybdenum are rare minerals. In pure form, molybdenum is difficult to isolate, it is refractory and difficult to process.
Production
M-MP molybdenum alloy sheets are produced: 1 to 30 mm thick (hot-rolled) and 0.1 to 0.9 mm thick (cold-rolled).
