8KhF (8ХФ) Tool Steel
Designation
Description
Material overview
8KhF (8ХФ) is an alloy-tool-steel designation found in specifications for selected cold-work tools and wear components. Tool life and dimensional stability depend on the complete manufacturing route, including stock condition, machining, heat treatment, finish grinding and service loading.
Product forms and sourcing
Requirements can be reviewed for round bar, flat bar, forged stock and cut blanks. State cross section, length, machining allowance, surface condition and the required delivery condition. If a finished tool drawing is involved, identify any restricted decarburization, straightness, ultrasonic testing or hardness requirements.
Evek LLC reviews each requirement against the requested grade, specification, form and quantity. Availability is confirmed during quotation; website text is not a stock or compliance guarantee.
Specification and substitution
Cross-reference names are only a starting point. An apparent U.S. or European equivalent may have different chemistry limits, cleanliness, hardenability or product-form coverage. Substitution requires purchaser or engineering approval against the drawing and governing material specification.
The purchaser remains responsible for material selection, design approval and confirmation that the specified material is suitable for the finished component and service environment.
Information required for a quote
Provide the exact 8KhF designation, standard and revision, product form, dimensions, quantity, condition, target properties, tolerances, testing, marking and material test report requirements. Add the application, U.S. delivery ZIP code and whether alternative dimensions or a trial quantity are acceptable.
