Alumel strip: define the required grade
Alumel is associated with the negative leg of a Type K thermocouple when the material is made and qualified to the applicable thermoelement specification. Nisil is a different alloy used in Type N systems, so the names must not be treated as equivalents. If a project requires strip rather than conventional wire, state the intended application, whether thermoelectric calibration is required and which standard or drawing governs acceptance.

Specification and quality notes
Alumel and Nisil are different materials. Do not approve a substitution based on trade names alone. A quoted strip lot is not automatically thermocouple grade; composition and thermoelectric qualification must be confirmed against the purchase specification.
