B83 tin-base babbitt bearing alloy
B83 is a tin-base antifriction alloy designation used for bearing linings. The bearing design normally combines a comparatively soft alloy matrix with harder constituent phases, allowing the lining to conform to the shaft while supporting the running surface. The finished bearing performance depends on the specified grade, backing material, lining thickness, casting procedure and service conditions.
Ordering B83 babbitt
Use the exact governing standard on the purchase order. Similar B83, B88, ASTM and SAE designations should not be treated as automatic equivalents without checking chemistry and acceptance requirements. Material can be requested by grade and supply form, commonly as ingots for remelting and bearing-lining work.
Information required for a quote
Send the grade and standard, required form or ingot size, total weight, batch or lot requirements, chemical-analysis certificate, inspection documentation and any special packing instructions. If the enquiry concerns a finished bearing rather than alloy supply, include the drawing and service conditions.
