Technical Characteristics

High-purity niobium rods contain not less than 99,9%Nb. They are produced in accordance with GOST 16100-79. The main advantages include high melting point, resistance to corrosion, the action of sulfuric, phosphoric, nitric and hydrochloric acids. Hot metal easily absorbs nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen. The maximum rate of absorption of gases, occurs at temperatures above 360 °C.

Production

The ingots are produced by powder sintering. The powder is impregnated with kerosene or gasoline. After sintering at high temperature the rods are pressed. Stubi sintering is carried out on specialized vacuum installations. After hardening in the working chamber the products acquire high technical and operational characteristics.

N.B.: Niobium dust is irritating to eyes, skin, and is flammable. Its individual compounds are very toxic. The maximum permissible concentration of Nb is 0.01 mg/l. If ingested, niobium can cause severe neuritis with further limb paralysis.
