Technical characteristics
Vanadium is a hard malleable metal lighter than iron. Specific weight 6.11 g/cm³. The atomic mass is 51 g/mol. It is unaffected by seawater, diluted solutions of alkali and acids - hydrochloric, nitric, sulfuric. It forms different valence oxides with oxygen: VC carbide is extremely refractory and melts only at 2800 °С.
