General information

Roll steels can be produced by electroslag remelting methods, and the initial type of product for further processing is forgings. Rolled steel production in the U.S. and North America is carried out in accordance with the technical regulations of A649/A649M-2015. This standard regulates the production of alloys for rolling mill rolls, as well as the trunnions of these rolls. The standard defines general requirements for such steels, regardless of the number of stands of the rolling mills. It is stipulated that such parts must be made of medium-carbon low-alloy tool steels with the possible use of welding techniques. The percentage of manganese and carbon in the composition of roll steel determines the permissible operating temperatures.
