Technical Characteristics
Physical properties of thermocouple wire depend on the ratio of its components. Alumel alloy is very ductile and strong. Constantan has high electrical resistance, independent of temperature. Copel alloy with iron, chromel and copper, has similar qualities to contantan: large thermoelectric strength, minimum thermal expansion coefficient, high heat resistance up to 600 °C, as well as resistance to corrosion. Chromel alloy has high heat resistance and is considered to be universal.
