Features of production

Copper wire is produced according to two standards: GOST 22666-77 (regulates the conditions of production of copper wire, which is further used for the production of thermocouples) and TU 17-605.492-2005 (according to which copper wire of general application is produced). In the first case the wire is manufactured within a diameter range of 0.2...0.5 mm, and only of M1E grade.

According to TU 17-605.492-2005 the wire is only produced of round cross-section with diameter from 0,125 to 16 mm of copper grades MT, MC, MM, MTE, MME, MTB and MMB. The standards stipulate that copper wire with a diameter of up to 2 mm is supplied only in cassettes, while wire with a diameter of over 2 mm is supplied in coils. Thus, the calculation of the weight of one meter of copper wire can be done in two ways - by the weight of the cassette/coil, and by the tabular method.

Determining the weight of copper wire in coils or cassettes

According to the technical standards of GOST 22666-77, copper wire wound on a cassette must not have strings, twists or knots, and the weight of the material wound on a spool must comply with the following parameters:
