Wire drawing

The wire is made from silicon bronze БрКМц-3-1 grade of State Standard 18175 for the needs of hardware industry. It is used for manufacture of elastic elements of springs, which are used in corrosive and aggressive environments. The wire is made in not annealed condition, with normal and high accuracy. The range of diameters is from 0,1 to 10 mm for round wire, from 0,6 to 3,5 mm for square wire. The mechanical characteristic tested after drawing is the ultimate tensile strength. Its values, depending on wire diameter, are taken within the range of 760...880 MPa. The technological tests consist in testing the finished wire for coiling without breaks and cracks of a given number of coils.

Rolling

The wire of phosphor bronze of БрОФ6,5-0,4 grade is manufactured by cold rolling ( GOST 5014). The range of dimensions is from 5 to 20 mm. Mechanical indicators are:

The bronze wire, obtained by drawing or cold rolling can be further used for manufacturing of axially symmetrical articles by the methods of cold or semi-hot extrusion and upsetting. The following process is used:

  • Precise closed cutting of the original profile to size:
  • Surface pretreatment - oxalation, which enhances the ductility of the alloys;
  • Multiple-position deformation on presses or automatic machines without intermediate annealing:
  • Finishing operations: thread rolling, degreasing, etc.

As a result of plastic deformation operations improves the macrostructure of the parts and increases their service life.
