General rules
These steels have no clearly defined position in the DIN standards, and are covered under "Low Alloy Steels" and "Steels for Welded Structures". In particular, the current standard DIN EN 10027-1 provides for marking such steels by their basic properties: chemical composition, mechanical properties and technological properties. Two main types of marking have been adopted in the European standards:
- by physical characteristics;
- By chemical composition.
- Steels used without heat treatment or after normalization are initially marked with the designation Re followed by figures indicating the guaranteed ultimate strength in Megapascal. The alloying element may be given next.
For the same steels, the guaranteed yield strength in megapascals may be indicated instead of the guaranteed strength. In this case, the letter B is placed after the designation Re, followed by figures indicating the guaranteed yield strength. The alloying element may also appear next.
Additional information
Additional information may appear after the main marking
- - weldability propensity (A; B; C);
- - Additional quality indicators (1; 2; 3
, etc. ), preceded by a hyphen; - - The letter describing the limitation of sulfur and phosphorus content;
- - EN designation;
If the steel has special characteristics, the symbol Re is followed by a capital letter in the designation:
- V - special magnetic properties;
- P - stampability.
This letter is followed by a two-digit number reflecting the property, and letters reflecting the surface condition of the item and the condition after treatment.
Heat treatment
The marking of low-alloy and alloy steels that have undergone heat treatment begins with a number indicating the carbon content multiplied by 100. Then there are symbols of alloying elements, with a number indicating their content in the alloy, then symbols of elements contained in the steel in small quantities, but important for the properties of the steel. These are followed by a number divided by a coefficient, which reflects the average content of the main alloying elements in the order given in the designation of the elements. The quotient is rounded to a whole number. Evek GmbH offers to buy low-alloy structural steel containing not more than 0.3% of carbon for welded constructions at an affordable price in a wide range. Provide product delivery anywhere in the continent. The price is optimal.
Letter marking
Denoted by the first letter - X. The letter is put in front if the form of delivery - steel casting. The first number: the average carbon content multiplied by 100 (up to three digits).Alloying elements are denoted by letters - symbols of chemical elements, lined in descending order of element content (at the same content. SYMBOLS FOR SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS. (symbols are separated by + from the previous ones)
- C - coarse-grained steel;
- P - fine-grained steel;
- H - with special hardenability;
- 715 - with a minimum relative narrowing of 15%;
- 725 - with a minimum relative narrowing of 25%;
- 735 - with a minimum relative narrowing of 35%.
