Soldering technology with copper tin

This method of connecting copper pipelines is used in the repair, renovation or replacement of heating systems in individual buildings or apartment buildings. Tin solders, which are thermoplastic materials, provide a reliable sealing of joints. First they melt and flow into the gap between the pipe ends, and then they cool, sealing the joint. Pipe ends must be pre-prepared for soldering: do not have jagged or irregular edges. Pipes themselves are annealed before soldering, which increases the plasticity of the jointed products.

Low-temperature tin solder grades

  • POS-40 (melting point 240...270°C);
  • POSV-33 (melting point 190...200°C);
  • POSV-61 (melting temperature 185...195°С);
  • POS-30 (melting temperature of 270...300°С).

All of the above grades are non-toxic, and can withstand operating temperature up to 100 ° C, which is quite enough for most coolants.

Flux

Besides solders the fluxes are also needed - auxiliary substances that contribute to effective cleaning of copper tubes surface from oxide layers, grease and oil impurities. When brazing copper pipes, fluoride-chloride flux paste (increases the strength of the joint) as well as zinc chloride-based fluxes are used. Supplier Evek GmbH offers to buy solder tin at an affordable price in a wide range. We provide delivery of products anywhere in the continent. The price is optimal.

Soldering technology of copper pipes with tin

The process is carried out in the following sequence:

  • The surface in the soldering zone is cleaned of mechanical irregularities;
  • Flux is applied evenly to the joined surfaces of copper piping;
  • The element is pressed tightly to each other, or inserted (if one of the pipes is equipped with an expander);
  • The joint is heated to the melting point of the flux;
  • Tin solder is applied to the surfaces, which first softens and then melts, flowing into the gap between the parts.

When the entire mass of solder has filled the gap, the heating pad is turned off and the joint is allowed to cool. Overheating the surface is inadmissible, as it can cause unwanted changes in the structure.
