Workability

Although copper is soft and ductile, it is best worked in the temperature range between 800 and 900°C. Hot deformation of copper alloys - forging, stamping, pressing - allows you to get products with any complex configuration. The optimum temperatures for machining copper alloys are considered to be:

  • For chemically pure copper - 820...860°C;
  • For brasses - 650...840°С;
  • For bronzes - 850 ... 900 °С.

phase transformations

Phase transformations proceeding intensively at these temperatures and the accompanying growth of grains cause an active decrease in temperature of these metals and alloys. Therefore, the intensity of deformation, which should not exceed 0.15 for each working stroke, is always limited when selecting the modes of technological processing. With deterioration of heat transfer conditions, the deformation resistance of copper and all copper alloys increases, which makes it necessary to use higher rates of processing during deformation.

Brass

Brasses containing more than 39% zinc are processed with particular care: these alloys are highly brittle, and if machining in cold condition is necessary, they must be annealed beforehand. Supplier Evek GmbH offers to buy beryllium bronze bars of domestic and foreign production at an affordable price in a wide range. Provide product delivery anywhere in the continent. Mechanical properties

According to the existing international classification (standards DIN 1708 and DIN 1726) industrially used copper is divided into the following groups:

Copper Designation Note
High degree of purity D composed of not less than 99,75% Cu;
Increased purity C At least 99.5% Cu;
Not less than 99.5% Cu; A of normal chemical purity A At least 99% Cu;
Oxygen-free S
Electrolytic Е

Main mechanical parameters

  • Tensile strength, MPa - 200...250 MPa;
  • Yield strength, MPa - 40...80 MPa;
  • Relative elongation, % - 30...40;
  • Brinell hardness, NV - 40 ... 65.
