Manufacturing

Forged semi-finished products are manufactured in various weights and configurations. Most of them have simple shapes, e.g. straight or stepped, cylindrical or flat-edged. Forgings of more complex shapes, given the high cost of metal and the complexity of machining, are not cheap. Forgings differ from each other by the complexity of configuration, sharp change of sections, the presence of thin ribs, a small radius of curvature.

Initial billet

In the production of forgings and forgings, ingots of different diameters and weights are used. For example, it can be a deformed intermediate billet of various diameters and lengths, which is obtained by free forging on forging equipment, radial forging machines, or on helical rolling mills and large-section hot rolling mills.

Intermediate billets

Such billets are cut into finished products in hot condition, cut by cutting on presses, shears, with a hammer, and cut by circular saws, lathes, tube cutters, or anode-mechanical machines, with cutting traces removed. In some cases flame cutting is also used for cutting, with the compulsory removal of cut marks by means of machining. Thus received dimensional blanks, and sometimes whole ingots are semi-finished products in the manufacture of forgings and forging.
