History of thermocouple wire

Seebeck effect

This phenomenon was discovered in 1821 by T. I. Seebeck. The Seebeck effect is that in a closed circuit consisting of dissimilar conductors, a thermoelectric EMF occurs if the contact points are maintained at different temperatures. A circuit that consists of only two different conductors is called a thermocouple or thermocouple. In 1822 Seebeck published the results of his experiments in an article entitled "On the question of the magnetic polarization of certain metals and ores arising under conditions of temperature difference," published in the Papers of the Prussian Academy of Sciences.
