• low melting temperature;
• high chemical activity (formation of a surface oxide film);

The sequence of operations

Electric arc welding of aluminum products is made on a direct current, with reverse polarity process. Aluminum electrodes are used, or a filler wire that is coated with appropriate fluxes. When the argon arc welding machine is turned on, an arc is ignited between the tungsten electrode and the workpiece to be welded. Then an aluminum filler wire is fed into the combustion zone of the arc (the so-called "short" arc with a length of no more than 3...4 mm is used). The high temperature that is created in the combustion zone provides an effective destruction of the surface film of aluminum dioxide, which is always present on the surfaces of the connected products.
