Nitriding structural steel in the Astm system
Are you interested in nitriding structural steel in ASTM system (USA, North America)? Supplier Evek GmbH offers to buy nitrided structural steel in any quantity at an affordable price in a wide range. We provide delivery of products to any point of the continent. The price is optimal.
General Information
The ASTM A355 standard covers the entire standard specification that applies to nitrided steel profiles. All profiles suitable for surface hardening by nitriding are designated as Class A, B, C and D. Class, A and D profiles are general purpose bars. Class B bars are non-setting surface hardened bars. All grades can be supplied in hot-rolled, hardened and tempered condition. Steel is manufactured by electric furnace only.
Heat Treatment
The microstructure resulting from heat treatment must not contain free ferrite in amounts exceeding the prescribed values. The maximum depth of the total and partial decarburization zone for hot-rolled bars and heat-treated bars must not exceed the prescribed dimensions. Analysis of heat treated or cast steel is performed on four steel grades, where the material must meet the required chemical composition regarding carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium, aluminum, molybdenum, selenium and nickel. After quenching and tempering, the rolled steel must meet the hardness standard of A355.

Scope
ASTM A355 also covers alloy steel plate suitable for surface hardening by nitriding. Sheet metal is subdivided into classes A, B, C and D. Grade, A and D sheets are general purpose rolled steel, Grade B sheets are unrestricted in quality and surface finish, and Grade C steels contain 3.50% nickel and are characterized by higher strength. All grades are normally supplied in hot-rolled, hardened, and tempered condition, but other requirements may be specified by the purchaser in any of the grades. In addition, ASTM standard A355 also covers rolled, annealed or non-hardened bars suitable for subsequent forging.
