ASTM B446 product scope
ASTM B446 covers specified nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys in the following forms:
- hot-worked rod and bar;
- cold-worked rod.
The scope includes UNS N06625, commonly requested as Inconel 625, as well as UNS N06219 and UNS N06650. This is a rod-and-bar specification; plate, sheet and strip requirements must be placed against the applicable flat-product specification.
UNS N06625 condition
For UNS N06625, the purchaser should identify the required grade or heat-treated condition and the intended service requirement. ASTM B446 includes chemical-composition, heat-treatment, room-temperature tensile-property and dimensional requirements. State whether the order is for round rod, round bar, rectangular bar or another permitted section.
Dimensions and certification
Include diameter, thickness and width where applicable, ordered length, straightness, finish and dimensional tolerances. Request the material test report and heat or lot traceability. If the drawing calls for N06625 plate, sheet, strip, pipe, tube, wire, forging or fastener stock, confirm the product-specific ASTM specification before quotation.
