Chemical composition
30ХГСА steel is a group of constructional steels with high content of chrome, manganese and silicon. Production of steel in the CIS countries is regulated by the technical requirements
- Carbon, % - 0,28...0,34;
- Silicon, % - 0,90...1,20;
- Manganese, % - 0,80...1,10;
- Chromium, % - 0,80...1,10.
Additional marking, A at the end of the designation indicates an improved chemical composition of steel. In particular, the percentage of non-metallic impurities, which include sulphur and phosphorus, should not exceed 0.025% for each of these elements. In Poland, steel of similar composition is produced under the brand 30 hgsa.
Properties and application
30ХГСА and 30 hgsa chromium-silicon-manganese steels are widely used for forgings production, as well as for finished products operating under high working loads and contact stresses. The wire is used to make critical large-scale fasteners for railroad components, and sheet structures made from these steels are used as envelope elements for pressure vessels. 30KhGSA and 30KhGSa steels lend themselves well to various types of heat treatment, and the weldability of the steels is limited. Mechanical processing is possible with the use of carbide tools.
After quenching and subsequent tempering, these steels acquire the following mechanical properties:
- Tensile strength - 1100 MPa;
- Yield strength - 850 MPa;
- Elongation-ratio - 10%;
- Relative narrowing of the cross section - 45%;
- Impact toughness - 500 kJ/m2.
