To buy 1.4104 stainless steel sheet at a favorable offer from Evek GmbH is a reasonable and expedient decision. The company sells products at manufacturer's prices, while guaranteeing delivery of the order to any location that is convenient to the customer
Composition and properties
The corrosion-resistant 1.4104 grade features a low carbon content, as well as molybdenum and chromium, as shown in the following table:
Alloying element | C | Si | Mn | Cr | Mo | Fe |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Presence in steel, % | 0,10...0,17 | Not more than 1 | Not more than 1.5 | 15,5...17,5 | 0,30...0,60 | The rest |
Chemical elements such as phosphorus (up to 0.04%) and sulfur (in the range of 0.15...0.30%) are also present as unavoidable metallurgical impurities during melting in the composition of the steel.
Rolled sheets are produced in accordance with AISI (USA) and European standard EN 10088-3. The composition of X14CrMoS17 steel produced by European metallurgical companies is similar to this steel. There are no analogues of 1.4104 steel in CIS.
This stainless steel sheet and strip has the following physical and mechanical properties:
- Density, g/cm3 - 7.7;
- Ultimate tensile strength, MPa - 750...800;
- Brinell hardness, HB - 120 ... 130;
- Relative elongation of the cross-section, % - 20...24.
Rolled sheets of this steel are produced in cold and hot condition. Hot-rolled sheets are over 20 mm thick, and strip is produced only by cold-rolling technology.
The presence of sulphur gives 1.4104 steel reduced shear stresses. As a consequence, the metal lends itself well to the separating operations of sheet stamping - punching and piercing - also in automatic mode. With the supply of the appropriate lubricants it is also possible to perform flexible and shallow drawing (for more serious shape change it is necessary to provide for the inter-operational softening treatment - annealing at 180...2000 С with the subsequent cooling in the air).
Steel 1.4104 is characterized by a favorable combination of the main alloying elements. In particular, molybdenum contributes to improvement of deformability of sheets and bands, and chrome gives the finished products the necessary resistance against high-temperature corrosion-mechanical wear. Application of
Rolled sheets made of this steel are widely used in the production of flat and spatial machine parts, whose functioning is performed in corrosive environments, liquid and gaseous. In this case the low corrosive activity of surface layers is fully preserved up to temperatures of 350...4000 С. Typical parts made of 1.4104 steel are blower housings and critical ventilation equipment, instrumentation parts
It is both economical and convenient to purchase rolled sheets - bands or sheets - from the corrosion-resistant steel 1.4104, as offered by Evek GmbH. The supplier provides the necessary range of thicknesses, widths and lengths, and each batch is accompanied by a quality certificate.
