Composition and properties
AISI 436 (1.4113) mild steel of ferrite class is highly resistant to corrosion phenomena at elevated up to 450 ...5000 C ambient temperature. Such a set of properties is ensured by a sufficient percentage of chromium, as well as the presence of titanium and molybdenum in the steel. The unification of components in the composition of the steel in the standards of Europe and North America is quite high. On the basic positions they coincide, differing requirements for limitation of carbon (standards ASTM provide no more than 0.02%С). Also there is no possibility of free nitrogen in the structure of steel AISI 436 (1.4113), and the presence of manganese must not exceed 0.6%. On the basis of its strength properties, AISI 436 (1.4113) steel sheets can be used for critical components in metallurgical works and equipment that are subjected to constant exposure to gases released during the operation of metallurgical plants. The good mechanical properties of the steel enable it to be formed on presses and automatic lines with shallow drawing, punching and bending operations. For more complex product configurations the rolled sheets are annealed beforehand. From steel AISI 436 (1.4113) can also be made spatial metal by welding, as the presence of titanium, not only facilitates welding, but also prevents the occurrence of intergranular corrosion in the welded seam.
