Technical Characteristics
A stainless high-temperature austenitic steel, second only to grade 304 in terms of commercial value. The base of the alloy is iron: its proportion is about 75%. The composition is alloyed with chromium, manganese, molybdenum. Specific gravity is 7.8 g/cm3. The addition of molybdenum gives the steel improved resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. A carbon content in the range 0.04 to 0.08% gives greater strength at elevated temperatures.
