Composition and properties
Steel 08X22H6T (EP53) is a stainless chromium-nickel alloy. Its composition includes 21-23% Cr, about 6% Ni, 08% silicon and manganese, 0,4-0,6% titanium, 0,3% copper. Sulfur and phosphorus are in hundredths of a percent. Wire, rounds and rods made of this steel have a high resistance to corrosion and a high tensile strength with a sufficiently high plasticity. They can withstand being heated in an oxygenated atmosphere or even in pure oxygen. Because of its high resistance to most concentrated alkalis, to hydrofluoric acid and to salt-laden seawater, this alloy is in wide demand in a variety of applications. It is not recommended for use in air-enriched acid solutions and acidic environments at temperatures above 375 °C,

Application
Wire, rod and circle made of this alloy are able to retain unchanged parameters in environments saturated with neutral and caustic alkali salts, in sea water, so they are used for salt production facilities. These products are stable in contact with hydrofluoric acid, fluorine and fluoride compounds, with dilute mineral acids - sulphuric, hydrochloric - in vacuum conditions, so they are widely used by the chemical industry. They are used in food, medical, pharmaceutical, shipbuilding, textile, oil and other industries.
