03Х21Н32М3Б steel is used: for the manufacture of products, operating at high temperatures in special environments; steam generators for operation at temperatures up to +750 °C; oil refining equipment operating in environments with a high content of hydrogen sulfide and chlorides at temperatures up to +200 °C; casing and tubing for wells of oil and gas with a high content of hydrogen sulfide; a device for supplying gas mixture into wells; pipelines for sea water.

According to TU 14-159-251-95 the chemical composition is presented for steel grade 03Х21Н32МЗБ-ВИ (ЭП864-ВИ). In the chemical composition, the technological addition of yttrium and / or other rare-earth metals (REM) to 0.05% each is allowed. These elements are entered by calculation and chemical analysis are not determined, but are entered in the document on the quality of the pipes.
According to TU 14-1-720-73, the chemical composition is presented for steel grade 03X21N32MZB (EP864). tolerances in chemical composition within the limits of table 2 of GOST 5632 are allowed, with the exception of nitrogen. Deviations in nitrogen, carbon, chromium, nickel and other elements not provided in Table 2 of GOST 5632 are allowed by agreement of the parties.

The chemical composition of the steel allows deviations from the chemical composition within the limits of table 2 of GOST 5632, with the exception of nitrogen and niobium, for which the following deviations are allowed: for nitrogen +0.0050%, for niobium ± 0.050%.
