Tungsten W-50
Designation
Description
Tungsten W-50 is used: for the production of polished bars with a diameter of 4.0−9.0 mm, designed for manufacture of parts for electronic industry; drawn and forged bars with diameter from 1.0 mm to 12 for the manufacture of electronic products; bars with gas-phase deposition on the surface of tungsten for the manufacture of electrodes of the xenon lamps.
Note
Thoriated tungsten (tungsten with thorium).
Standards
Chemical composition
W is the basis.
According to TU 48-19-59-87, the chemical composition is given for a tungsten alloy of the VT-50 grade. The Thorium (Th) column indicates the mass fraction of thorium oxide in the alloy, which should be within the range of 4.50-5.50. The total mass fraction of impurities should be no more than 0.10%. The amount of impurities includes molybdenum, iron, aluminum, silicon and calcium.
According to TU 48-19-320-91, the chemical composition is given for the central part of the bars with gas-phase deposition of tungsten on the surface.
According to TU 48-19-533-92, the chemical composition is given for a tungsten alloy of the VT-50 grade. The Thorium (Th) column indicates the mass fraction of thorium oxide in the alloy, which should be within the range of 4.50-5.50. The total mass fraction of impurities should not be more than 0.060%.
The mass fraction of tungsten, including thorium oxide, must be at least 99.94%. The amount of impurities includes iron, calcium, molybdenum, potassium, silicon, aluminum.
