Production of stainless steel circles, bars

Circle types and marking

Circle, which is made of stainless steel by hot or cold rolling, has a circular cross-section. It can have different diameters for standard or non-standard technological processing. Such acircle is marked according to its manufacturing accuracy. For example, A means high accuracy, marking B means increased accuracy, and C means normal accuracy. According to the curvature, the circle may be of class I or II. The most popular are stainless circles Ø 1-300 mm. Also, a circle may be coated, forged, pierced and stamped.

Production

To produce a stainless steel circle, mostly steel that is hot forged is used. After the steel has gone through the forging stage, it is cooled in air. It can also be quenched cold, and the deformation strength is increased. The more ductile grades of stainless steel are suitable for flat-rolled steel. These steels are also available for bending, drawing and stamping. But machining them requires more effort. Stainless steels are usually welded by arc welding in a protective atmosphere. If necessary, chromium-nickel, austenitic and other additives are used.

Testing

The composition of stainless steel may vary depending on operational requirements. In order to verify its qualities, stainless steel is subjected to tests such as long boiling in alkali or acid and subjected to deformation stresses. It is worth noting that even if the product is placed in boiling water for 6 hours, the surface of a stainless circle will not change in any way. If a stainless steel disc is operated for a long time at 700° to 800°C, dross appears on the surface. Even at a temperature of about 500 °C, rapid heating may result in the appearance of scale.

Use

Stainless steel round is used in food processing, mechanical engineering, construction and apparatus engineering, as well as in household and other industries. Parts made of stainless steel circles are found everywhere: they are elements of multi-storey structures, gas stoves, furniture fittings, parts of washing machines and cars. Also circles are used in fasteners, ends of closed pipes, parts of containers, in architecture and sculpture , etc. The modern automotive industry is not without stainless steel circles. They are used to produce elements of trim, hubcaps on the wheels, rims and all kinds of small parts.
